Mark van Zuydam - Was born in Zimbabwe and grew up on a Farm in the district of Mazowe. From the time his father taught him about fire flies, when he was 5 years old, he has loved the outdoors and nature. At 20 he started his career as a learner Canoe Guide, obtaining his River Guides Authority in 1989. He then continued his training under the Tutorship of Professional Guides and Hunters, the likes of Willie de Beer, Steve Edwards of Musango Safari Camp, Gordon Putrill and Andy Hunter to name but a few. He obtained his Full Guides Licence in 1995. Since obtaining his Full Licence he has guided for Musango Safari Camp, Rhino Safari Camp, Natureways Safaris and Bushlife in Matusadona and Mana Pools respectively. In 2021 he spent a bit of time as Lodge Maintenance Manager assisting with guiding when needed at Imvelo Safaris Nehimba Lodge in Hwange National Park. Returning to Mana Pools in 2022, he joined Robin Pope Safaris, Zimbabwe at John's Camp. In 2024 Mark and Jenni started Shenga Expeditions. Although Mark is still with John's Camp, when he is not working with them in Mana, he will be guiding Shenga's Guests.
Jenni van Zuydam - She was born in Zimbabwe and raised in Harare. She has always had a passion for nature and the outdoors, which nothing can ever dampen. She met Mark in 1991 and joined him in the role of Assistant Manager, Chizarira Lodge, in 1992. From there, they moved as a couple to Musango Safari Lodge, where she served as the Assistant Manager to Wendy Edwards. Jenni temporarily left the tourism industry to start and raise their family but returned in 2007, joining Natureways Safaris as their Safari Coordinator in Kariba. She was promoted to Operations Manager in 2010 where she stayed till 2021 when she moved with Mark to Nehimba Lodge in Hwange to take up the position as Camp Manager. In 2022 Mark got an amazing offer to move back to Mana Pools, so Jenni returned to Natureways again as Operations Manager. Jenni will be overseeing the Logistics of Shenga Expeditions.
