On Monday, as Mark and I were leaving the house to meet our Game Drive guests, I noticed the sky was a striking blood red. I still regret not taking a couple of minutes to snap a photo to share, but duty called and I didn’t want to be late for the pickup. The morning began with a light drizzle, leaving us unsure if we’d have a wet, miserable drive. Luckily, as the day went on, the sun began to break through. It was a quiet drive in terms of animal sightings, but our guests, visiting Kariba for the first time, were delighted by the few zebras, water-buck, and impala we encountered. The scenery and tranquility completely won them over. After spotting our favorite bush-buck doe in the thicket, we searched for the handsome bushbuck ram that roams nearby and instead stumbled upon a nursery of young impalas - an enchanting sight, even though their mothers kept them hidden in the dense bush.
